It usually doesn't happen for decades. Historically, psychic work and outright memory work that has documented cases has set 70-80 years as the average time. I think that's accelerated - more like 20-30 years now (speculation from isolated cases).

And, of course, there are those who, in life, pledged themselves to continual incarnation in service to humanity. These are an exception.

What would be your sources? I mean, where can we read about this?
Who has documented the cases?

You can't, mostly.

One does get to a place where one can perceive these things directly. What I wrote here is primarily direct knowledge, rounded out by numerous conversations over the years with Soror Meral (partly in the sense of two travelers comparing notes on places they've visited, and partly a junior traveler listening to a more experienced traveler). The information isn't all that rare among people who have spent decades exploring it.

Though I haven't read the books myself, many people have told me that the Seth books are the closest match to what I've said over the years. If you want a second opinion that you can find in a book, you might explore those.

PS - I just realized I was answering on the wrong thread. I thought this was the other reincarnation thread from this week, so much of what I wrote in this answer (including the reference to the Seth literature) probably doesn't apply. - For separate corroboration of the time frame (stuff you can find in books), there are all sorts of things to check... the Cayce readings for one, plus a lot of books from the late '60s and much of the '70s documenting past life records and some physical world corroborations.

PPS - I'm not sure what happened to the original post on this thread. Perhaps Draco deleted it?
