A zodiac question

I'm not sure if this is the right part of the forum, but I've got a question about the zodiac signs and the gospels. Jesus had 12 disciples, at least 12 in the last supper, is there any relationship or correspondence between disciples and the zodiac signs? If there is, what would Judas be?

Llewellyn George. in the "New A to Z Horoscope Maker" (13th edition, 1981), lists them, and puts Judas in Scorpio.

He suggests Mark in Aries, Thaddeus in Taurus, Simeon in Gemini, John in Cancer, Leo has no disciple assigned, Andrew in Virgo, Batholomew in Libra, James, Son of Zebedee in Sagittarius, Simon Peter and Thomas in Capricorn, Matthew in Aquarius, and the younger James in Pisces.

I can see John, whose symbol is the eagle, which was traditionally associated with water, going into Cancer. Peter, 'the Rock,' could fit an earthy sign. The other reasons, I can't guess at.

Interesting; I've never really given this much thought. But no disciple for Leo? Well then, I'm going to put Mary Magdalene there. It's one of the more masculine signs, but she would have to be somewhat different than most women of her day, like non-docile, to have lived that lifestyle as a follower of Jesus, and Leos have a reputation of being quite sexual so that fits. There's also the theory she was well-off financially, or at least her father was and was able to finance some of the traveling. Sounds like a Lioness feeding the men alright. I think they can like being center of attention at times, and dramatic; maybe a reason why some of those guys were not too fond of her and acted jealous.

The 12 are traditionally associated with all 12 signs - just like the 12 tribes. There have been different lists. For one, Medieval writers were consistent that the four Gospel writers were the four Kerubic signs. Judas is traditionally Pisces (betrayal etc.). Thomas is Gemini, the near-agnostic rational doubter. Etc. I'm going from memory, so don't have the whole list in mind.

93,

Llewellyn George in The New A to Z Horoscope Maker puts Peter in Leo. I missed this in my post last year, getting bamboozled by George's putting Simon Peter in Capricorn as well.

93 Elkeid,
The alignment of Magdalene with the constellation of Leo is a fascinating meditation - The Lust card features a pictoral representation of the Union of the Bride & the Beast - the Beast being Sol, '666', & His Consort being Leo, the domicile(House) of the Sun. This goes quite well with the Gnostic view of Magdalene as the Bride of Jesus, as well as the Kabbalistic view of Malkuth as the 'seat' of Adonai.

Regarding Judas - & this is purely speculatory - he may align with the sign of Asclepius, The Sign of the Serpent Holder(see Le Serpent Rouge), that falls, if I remember correctly, between Scorpio & Sagittarius. I am reminded of the verse in the Gospel of Judas where Jesus tells Judas: "the star that leads is your star"...hmm

They are definitely astrological. The four evangelists are often associated with the 4 kerubs of Lion, Bull, Eagle, Man. Thomas means 'twins' and is associated with Gemini. I would say Judas is the scorpion which stabs and signals the descent of the Sun into the lower quadrants (Winter) where it is crucified at the Winter Solstice (Capricorn/Dec.25th).

"The star that leads" is either Polaris the northern star (which lead sailors) but is most likely the Morning/Evening Star: Venus. Its a figure of speech. These astrological motifs can easily be seen as metaphors in the first place - people have it backwards thinking that the stories really mean astrological events. The point is tying in a person with astrological events to make it cosmic/mythical and give it metaphorical meaning...

I was thinking more along the lines of "these are for the servants of the Star & the Snake" & "Every man and every woman is a star" & also "I am the flame that burns in every heart of man, and in the core of every star..." - but Venus, as the esoteric sun, is a sufficient analogy...so is the Polaris! *Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream*
